Ice House

Rumor has it that this house was originally the South Haven Ice House and was located on the banks of the Black River. It stored the ice that was cut from the waterways that cooled local iceboxes. The walls in the ice house were insulated with sawdust and are nearly a foot thick. It was moved to its present location and converted into a dwelling. Extensive renovations in 2006 added a garage and new living space, but the original "ice house" is the main front section of the house. |
